Heerema fly jib Balder

This Jib with a SWL of 1000 tons, is made entirely of the high strength steel Weldox700 or S690QL. Processing this material makes very high demands on craftsmanship and especially on the discipline of the people who process the material. The material can handle very high tensile strengths, but is also very sensitive to cracking. Therefore, during processing, extra attention is paid to warm-up and cool-down times with respect to welding and control of the stresses in the material and weld testing because a gust of draft over a weld can already cause a hairline crack.
